The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
