The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
