The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
