The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
