The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
