The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
