The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
