The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
