The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
