The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
