The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
