The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
25 verses, revealed in Mecca after Shattering (Al-Infitaar) before The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
