The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
