۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
