The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
