۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
