The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
