The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
