The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
