The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
