The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
