The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
