The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
