The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Will pray for death, 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
