The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
