The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
