The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
