The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
