The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
