The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
