The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
