The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
