The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
