The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
