The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
