The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
