The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
