The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
