The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
