The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
