The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
