The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
