The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
