The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
