The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
