The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
