The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Will pray for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
