The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
