The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
