The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
